How can Counselling help?
As a person-centred Counsellor my aim is not to be directive with you and that it is up to you to decide what to bring to counselling and how much to share with me. I respect the need to take ‘small steps’ and I believe that feelings and thoughts will emerge when they are ready to be felt and dealt with.
Some of the things that Counselling can help you to;
- feel more in control of your life
- overcome fears, phobias and cravings
- create healthy boundaries with toxic behaviour
- feel fewer symptoms of depression
- come to terms with the loss of loved ones
- better understand behaviour patterns in your relationships and make changes
- feel less anxiety in certain situations and look at how to best combat stress
- see how seasonal affective disorder might be affecting you
- better manage the warning signs of feeling a panic disorder
- explore issues around sexuality
- recognise and alleviate the symptoms of disordered eating
- have more understanding of the needs behind self harm
- look at the impact of being educated at boarding school
- improve the way you feel about yourself and become more confident
- find ways to cope with changes in your life and regain some power
- look at how to go about not feeling stuck and finding areas of hope
- communicate more effectively within relationships
During your sessions you might want to:
- Find solutions to problems
- Discover better ways of coping
- Uncover a deeper understanding of yourself
- Look at more positive ways to change
- Have an improved sense of wellbeing
You don’t have to be feeling low or down for Counselling to be helpful. Having someone listen to you in a non-judgmental and caring way can be a very empowering experience. I hope I can be that person for you.
